starting new habits may even be harder than ending old ones. habits are easier to start when there is a reward every time you do it. a popsicle maybe, every time you write a song. maybe you have to do it that way. maybe there's no other way.

you are not being very mindful of your life strategy? why not try a plan? try this: plan ahead to do three arcs a day, with one larger arc over all three. dedicate yourself wholly to each arc, making sure to clearly articulate beginnings and endings . don't think about the future OR the past, just for this exercise. at first, just observe the larger arc as it occurs. you must not lose your focus on each individual arc. after you feel comfortable making the small arcs, continue for three more days to build endurance. then very gradually begin to put more emphasis on the first arc. then one day remove that emphasis and place one on the second arc. a few day sa later only emphasixe the third arc. make sure to keep the unemphasized arcs at the same normal level. throughout, continue to ONLY OBSERVE the large arc, noting how it changes in character depending on where the emphasis is placed. this emphasis can be effected in many different ways, but for now think of it only as an amplification of the energy involved. go through all combinations of putting emphasis on one or some of the arcs: first and second, first and third, second and third, all three, all the while observing how the large arc changes color. after all of these combinations are more than comfortable to you, begin to articulate the different temperaments of the larger arc for each combination. feel. breathe normally. after a while begin to improvise. juxtapose the feel of the larger arc from one combination on top of a different one. after improvising with all of these patterns is more than comfortable, step back again (without stopping your rhythms) and observe. find new variables and colors to explore and master and develop.
